The Yankees would be stupid to trade the best hitter in their league.
Opt-out or not, if they trade him, he's definitely not coming back.

I don't see it happening. The Yankees didn't sign a 44 yr old for 28 million to pitch half a season if they didn't think they still had a shot at winning this year. Trading away their biggest bat while their offense is fluttering the way it is will just cause more problems that it will solve.

Why do you figure that Big Z isnt happy in Chicago? the Cubs are having a lot of success and Zambrano is pitching great right now. Take a look at the video clips of the Cubs 2 recent walk off wins, Zambrano is the first guy out there to congratulate his teammates and looks like he's celebrating a world series win.

Isn't happening for the following reasons:
1. Since the Cubs are in the process of being sold they cannot take on that much salary without the new ownership approving it and from what I hear the only reason the Cus haven't given Zam his new deal is because the new ownership is unclear and thus the team cannot legally spend more money.
2. The Yankees aren't trading the best hitter in baseball for a guy who throws once every 5 games and is as streaky as it gets with poor control. We need A-Rod's offense.
3. A-Rod would sell a hell of a lot more tickets than Zam ever will.
4. No one knows if ARod is opting out or not. Chances are Zam IS becoming a free agent though. I am taking that chance as the Yankees that IF a-Rod does opt out we have a famn good shot to simply sign Zam instead of trading for him.
Sean Tracey has my apologies, we all know Ozzie Guillen is an idiot. I'm rooting for you!

If Brian Cashman trades Alex Rodriguez for Carlos Zambrano he will be fired.

Yanks won't resign him cuz they lose the free Texas dough..
that would be dumb for the parties taking advantage of free Texas dough (Yanks and arod) wouldn't it...opt out of the contract, no more Texas dough and then resign w/ Yanks?
Could extend him tho and keep the dough.

I really don't think either team would do that. So no, not going to happen.
