Weeks on the bench for a while?

Postby Ursa » Tue Jul 03, 2007 9:23 am

From Yahoo:
Jul 3 The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt reports Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks has been benched by manager Ned Yost in order to give him time to regroup. Since recovering from an ailing right wrist and coming off the disabled list, Weeks was batting .194 (7-for- 36), with no hits in his last 13 at-bats.

Could be sitting for some time......

What a massive disapointment he's been. I'm just about ready to give up on him in a keeper.

Man, am I glad I didn't trade away Figgins last week. I was planning on using either he or Kinsler as my 2B replacement for Figgy and look at them now.

Weeks seemed fine the first few games back from the last DL stint...he's been pretty inconsistent and brittle ever since coming to the majors though. Not a guy I'd depend on until he sustains something consistent in terms of production rather than a lack thereof.

Indeed he was. That's not how I read the Yahoo report so it looks like days off here and there.

Anyway, I have no cover at 2B, don't want to drop anyone to get what would be very mediocre cover e.g. Jose Lopez, Ray Durham and am thinking about not fielding a 2B at all when the opposing pitcher is anywhere near competent. This might actually help my BA and OPS while making little or no difference to the quantity stats.

I am so glad that I got rid of him a couple of weeks ago. I trade a guy Mike Cameron and Jeff Kent for Maddux and Weeks. Looks like I got the better end of the deal here. I always feel bad for guys after I trade them a guy who ends up sucking. Oh wait...I dont! :-°

I'd think about dropping him for Ray Durham. If you look at Durham's stats, he has recently been doing better Post- Allstar. He might be worth a gamble... I know this because I was looking to trade for a good Post -Allstar 2nd baseman. Haven't been able to pull it off yet. Weeks is on waivers in my league.

About a week ago I dropped R.Weeks and picked up B.J. Upton on Waivers from a guy who dropped Upton 1 day before I dropped Weeks.

I guess the guy didn't know Upton was coming back after the break :-)
