From Fantasy Source:
"Barton is on a tear for Triple-A Sacramento, as he is 47-for-93 in June, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Fantasy Source spin: It's just a matter of time before this stud prospect is called up. Once that happens, owners of nearly all leagues will want to put a claim on him. "

This is the 1st that I have ever heard of him. Is he a stash and wait type of guy. I am weak at catcher with Laird and Napoli. Is Barton truly a "stud prospect"?

Barton is no longer a catcher and spends his days playing 1B mostly with some LF in there every so often. He was highly regarded coming into last year but had an off year in 2006. So far in 2007, he's back to pre-2006 form. I think he his biggest weakness is his lack of power but I hear a lot of Mark Grace comparisions. Not a stud but a very good and valuable player. I'd see he is similar to Adrian Gonzalez.

Just off the top of my head real quick, Conor Jackson comes to mind when I think of Barton. Good avg, good BB/K ratio, not alot of power...... does that seem like a reasonable comparison?

Well, I actually think Jackson has more power potential. Barton is pretty good with the glove too.

I am in a Sporting News league in which for the remainder of this year at least, he will still have Catcher eligibillity. With this added value should I stash and hold for the rest of the year. This is not a keeper league.

I don't know if he will play much this season to be effective as a Catcher.
