^ Why is he so lucky? He's not a fluke, his ERA may be a little too low, but I doubt it goes over 4. He had almost the same exact year last year... BOTH John Maine and Chris Young deserve to be All-Stars...
Right, because All Star selections should be based on the fact that you think his babip is too low and his strand rate is too high, not performing to a sub 3 era.
Pirates fans make me sick... First they try to protest.... fail
Second they try to vote for an All star, and vote Sanchez...?? Why not vote Bay? He sucks this year, but his past has much more than Sanchez who won a batting title out of AAA... Have they lost that much faith in Bay that Sanchez is the fan favorite?
Young over Fuentes Byrnes over Rowand Gorzo or Snell over Hamels Rollins or Hanley over Sanchez
AL was pretty well selected, only changes I would make would be Manny gone, Pena, Cabrera or Youk in MYoung gone, if tex had any other rep
And btw I have no problem with Dmitri Young going, guys hitting well .337 driving in runs and all teams should be represented. It would be more of a shame if Cordero went over Hoffman or Saito

Lol. It's comments like that that give all us other stat-heads bad names.
Maine has a good swing for a pitcher but on anything that moves, he has no chance. And if it's a fastball, it has to be up in the zone. Basically, the pitcher has to hit his bat. - Mike Pelfrey
It's not like its the biggest snub ever, but I think Howard should have made it. One would think that defending MVP is "star" material. I guess my main beef with this is, that its factored over the first half of the season, and not the last half of the previous year. I say that, because it seems like a lot of the times "so and so is having a great year"--fair enough, but its only half of a season too. To me "star" implies some type of usual production, not a spike.
Lee has a far superior BA, but howard signficiantly bests him in HR, his run and rbi are better, as is OPS. Throw in the fact that his team is doing better in a tougher division, and he is the defending MVP, he should get the benefit of the doubt IMO.
