Yesterday during the Fox Saturday game the on the field guy, can't think of his name, said the DiamondBacks were thinking of bringing up Upton to have a young guy give a spark to the team. Anyone else hear anything about this?

I hope he gets called up... It would make my fantasy season. Ive been holding onto my #1 waiver in a keeper all year for him.

I don't get why they wouldn't give Hairston a chance since he's out of options, damn, I think the kid could be good and has patiently waited his time, lol. :-D

Top Five Hitters
1. Justin Upton, CF, Arizona Diamondbacks: Not even close. Upton was a man among boys, even though he's just 21 years old. He's a fast-twitch hitter, like his brother, B.J., who lets the ball travel deep and then just spins his whole body to whip the bat through the zone. He centers the ball well and showed enormous pull power in BP and in the game, when he crushed a 91-mph fastball out to left. He has a plus arm, 60 on the 20-80 scale, but threw a couple of rainbows to the plate because his footwork was off -- a fixable problem.

"In 84 minor league games this season, Justin Upton is batting .318 with 13 homers, 52 RBIs, 61 runs and 16 steals."

Is this the type of hitter we, as fantasy owners, should expect? Dare I say another young Sizemore-type OF?

How about another BJ Upton-type OF? :-D

The dude can hit and run, but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't make an appearence until September and only in a limited role even then.

Anyone have his PECOTA comparables? I'm guessing Griffey/A-rod-ish comps.

I just went to their site and apparently you have to pay, so no, I don't. But I'd like to say Grady rather than Griffey/ARod... :-D

Hes currently way above his weighted means projection coming into the season....
Which was approximately:
15hr,60rbi,.250average,73runs in 593 abs. I am not sure if that is normalized to the majors though....
His comparables were ben johnson, brandon wood, kimani newton, michael hall
This was from the beginning of the season. He did have a very high breakout of 50%, and a 64% improve.

Why not A-rod? In his first 3 full years as a Mariner:
1996 - 36 HR, 15 SB, 123 RBI, 141 R .358 AVG
1997 - 23 HR, 29 SB, 84 RBI, 100 R, .300 AVG
1998 - 42 HR, 46 SB, 124 RBI, 123 R, .311 AVG

Okay, fine, looking back, maybe Griffey isn't as good as comp b/c Upton will have more speed.

I have him on my dynasty farm team, though I wasn't really expecting to see any impact from him for a few years. I'd like to see what he can do in the majors, even if it's just for a few games at the moment.
