What would be great is if the Cubs and White Sox both made the World Series and it was held in LA.
Chicago fans would love that.
This idea would remove a lot of the charm from the World Series. I thought the whole idea is that the baseball world gets smaller and your city is still there and you can be a part of it.
I agree think it is a great idea to make the first game more ceremonious.
While we're at it, lets move the pitching "mounds" back another 10 ft, lower them to ground level, move the walls in to 250 ft down the lines, give the hitters 4 strikes, let each team use 4 DHs so middle infielders do have to bat, let the hitters wield their bats as a weapon while circling the bases, and let Vince McMann be the Vice-Commish.
The fact that the Cardinals won is GOOD for baseball, because a different team has been winning every year. If you want to make it boring, combine a lack of salary cap with a month of playoffs, then watch as all the small-market teams close up shop. The playoffs are about excitement, not fairness.
By the way, how have the long playoffs in the NBA been treating you?
Make it a true 'World' series.. 1st game: North America 2nd game: South America 3rd game: East Asia 4th game: Europe 5th game: Africa 6th game: Australia 7th game: Iceland
Why add two games? Why not just play the whole series at a neutral location? Give the two teams cities a bonus for making to the series. How do you justify one team winning the first two games at a neutral site, then going home for the next game of two. The series could be over or as close to over before one team even plays its first home game. If you play any games at a neutral site, they should all be played at a neutral site.
The glass is neither half full nor half empty... It is simply a glass
Super Bowl is so big because there is only one deciding game. Adding two more games will not make it more popular than the Super Bowl. That's just silly.
Neutral site for the WS is a great idea. Too often the weather has too much impact on the outcome of the game. Reason why SB is played in warmer cities and domes.
Wild Card should absolutely be best of 7. It is not fair to have a short series where a hot team can win 3 games over a far superior team.
And whoever said that baseball is the only place where home field advantage makes a big difference... Have you watched football and basketball? Home teams have a HUGE advantage.
