AL All Star Starter?

Postby rookies and cream » Sun Jul 01, 2007 1:17 am

This was the Sportscenter question of the night. Thought it would be worth repeating here...

Who should be the AL All Star Starter?

CC Sabathia
Josh Beckett
Dan Haren
John Lackey

It's gotta be Haren right?

Even though Haren's ERA is nearly 1.30 point lower? I understand CC has 3 more wins (maybe 2 after tomorrow) but Haren really should have about 3-4 more if not for a few blown saves and lack of run support.

Unless Haren implodes he will start - His peripherals are downright filthy. CC is a beast and will win 20 this year, with good ERA and WHIP to boot, but Haren has been better so far.

And don't forget my boy Peavy to start for the NL! Yeah, and I have em both in my keeper league (Santana too). ;-D

Haren has been the most consistent this year but I have to say that CC is just as deserving.

Much as it pains me to say it, I think Beckett eliminated himself from contention after last night's stinker. I don't think he had a real good shot anyway to begin with but now I think it's either Haren or CC, probably Haren.

Who's set up to do it? That's what really counts. If a pitcher just pitched they won't start. I wouldn't count Johan out with Leyland picking the team and Johan will be ready to pitch. Plus, a lot of people think about the last half of last season, and if that's the case it's Johan hands down. If Haren is ready to pitch than I'd say Haren, but, I think Johan should be on that list.
