What do you folks think will come of the Saltalamacchia (hereon referred to as Salty) / McCann situation? Does Salty move to 1st and McCann remain behind the plate? Does one of them get dealt? Or do they keep both behind the plate and screw those of us who'd like Salty as a full time catcher on our fantasy teams?

I think it would serve the Braves well to trade one of them. They could get great value for one of them. Thorman is a project at firstbase, but i think he will eventually be a productive player.

I personally don't think they'll move Thorman, not with his power potential. But that leaves me, as a fantasy manager, in a tough situation. I'd like to add Salty now in place of B Molina, but it only seems worthwhile if he's playing full-time....

I'd say if it is a keeper league he is worth the roster spot on the idea that he could be traded and be an everyday starter.

I'm pretty sure he will be starting against lefties at first base.

i made the move 2 days ago. i don't think i'm going to miss much, especially if i can open an extra roster spot to grab Bengie again. worth the wait IMO

WARNING: to all Salty, Salt Man, Saltalamacchia lovers - the word is out.
Yahoo! Fantasy Expert Andy Behrens made Saltalamacchia the headline of his most recent article on fantasy sports praising the catcher's hitting ability. Here's a link to the article:
http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/analysis ... antasy/mlbThe article ends with:
"The fact that Saltalamacchia is a first baseman who qualifies at catcher is a big plus, fantasy-wise. He should really be owned in most mixed leagues. Currently, there are a bunch of more heavily-owned catchers with batting averages in the .235-to-.265 range who are on pace to hit no more than 18 HR. I'd prefer Saltalamacchia to most of them. Those are really sub-league average numbers in a public league."
So if you were thinking about adding him but weren't sure before (like me), you have no choice now. Someone else will grab him out of blind sheepitude to the experts and you will not be able to show your love for Salty... go now.

All these people like Andy Behrens advise you to pick up Salty, but what good is it if his playing time is so irregular? It just causes headaches. I've picked him up and dropped him twice already thinking he might get more PT. I don't even know if he's worth stashing unless it looks like a lock for more PT or if he gets traded. He's on my radar, but I don't really know about getting him right now unless you have a roster spot to burn while waiting it out to see what happens.
