He's been pretty great so far. Possibly a little comprable to the production of Andre Ethier last year. Which would indicate he is a good sell high. But in the minors he has done nothing but rake.

So what would be the potential trade value of Pence at this point?

Whoever got Vernon Wells for him, that's a tremendous deal. I'm not quite sure I could pull that off, but what are some other players that Pence could fetch in a 1-for-1 deal? I'm pretty set on pitching at this point, but I'm lagging in batting average and OB%. I'm leading in SB, so that's not necessarily a priority, but I could always use a guy that has some good power numbers.

my team is below, just in case:

8-team NON-keeper roto league
Batters: Avg, HR, RBI, runs, SB, OB%
Pitchers: ERA, W, Sv, K, WHIP, K-BB

C: Jorge Posada
1B: Albert Pujols
2B: Chase Utley
3B: Ryan Braun
SS: Hanley Ramirez
OF: Carl Crawford
OF: Hunter Pence
OF: Corey Hart
Util: Travis Hafner (1B)
Bn: Carlos Delgado (1B)
Bn: Brad Hawpe (OF)

Pitchers (2 SP, 2 RP, 3 P)
P: Erik Bedard
P: Jeremy Bonderman
P: Ben Sheets
P: Brandon Webb
P: Scott Kazmir
P: Rich Hill
RP: Joe Nathan
RP: Jonathan Papelbon
RP: Brian Fuentes
RP: Kevin Gregg
DL: Chris Carpenter

It says right in his attempt to get trade advice that it's an 8-team league; but I digress. A few days ago I moved Pence and El Duque for Troy Glaus and Chris B. Young in a redraft roto league and I am thrilled with what I got.

Well as for how I got Pujols, Utley and Crawford:

I was lucky enough to get the first pick in our draft, which I used on Pujols.

We did a snake draft order (meaning I get 1st pick in the first round and last pick in the 2nd, so on and so forth), so when it got time for me to take my second pick, I had two in a row. I used the first of those on Chris Carpenter :~( and the second on Carl Crawford (why he was still there, I don't know).

Utley basically fell into my lap after an idiot owner proposed the following trade:
He gave:
Chase Utley
Ben Sheets

I gave:
Juan Pierre
Brian Fuentes

KEEP IN MIND THAT HE PROPOSED THIS TO ME!!! What is an even bigger miracle is that it did not get vetoed. BUT, the kicker is that the guy that made this trade with me is still in first place (I'm trailing him by 2 points). He ended up dropping Pierre and Fuentes later, and I picked up Fuentes when I had room.

So that's how I put together this team. I've also made some not-so-smart deals (Brandon Phillips for Mike Lowell - not horrible, but I ended up dropping Lowell for Zimmerman, then Zimm for Braun). I also snatched Hafner from the same guy for James Shields, straight up. I'm trying to throw Pence at him for Torii Hunter, but he's finally wising up.

I picked him up on waivers in my league and he's not going anywhere at the moment.

“Hunter, Feed the Masses,” has become a popular theme on signs at Minute Maid Park.

One creative woman recently even vowed to dump her boyfriend for Pence, showing up at the stadium with a sign that read: “I’ll dump this guy for you, Hunter.”

“I’m kind of like, ‘Come on, that’s kind of mean for your boyfriend,’ “ Pence said. “I just saw the guy holding it up. I’m like, ‘Why is he holding that up?’ He was all pumped about it. I don’t know if I signed that one or not.”

For the first time this season, Pence has enough plate appearances to qualify among the league leaders and his .345 batting average places him second in the National League.

Got a good look at young Hunter vs. the Mets this week on TV … wow. Very impressed. :-L

His demeanor and zeal at the plate and obvious talent in going to the opposite field suggests the kid is the real deal. He’s a hit waiting to happen. Made me think of Ted Williams somehow …

Picked Pence up for all four teams in early May and having been reaping the rewards ever since ... including a decent 7 SBs.

Will be interesting to see how bobbing_headz’ trade of Pence for Wells pans out. No doubt Vernon is talented, but he’s also fat with that seven-year, $126 million contract extension signed last December.

Hungry rookie vs. streaky multimillionaire set for life? I’d put my money on the rook. B-)
