He won't lose 20. They'll pull him out of the rotation if he gets close.
Yeah, the Cards won't subject this guy to getting his confidence mentally shattered by losing 20 games or more.
Maybe Maroth could lecture him on how it feels, though. . But honestly, even in his last start, he pitched alright after the 1st inning. Just THAT one big inning where he gets shelled.
I feel bad for the guy because he's not that bad a pitcher. If he was getting 4 or 5 runs a game he would be maybe 4-5 or 3-6 maybe, possibly even .500... but not 0-10. Hopefully we can score some runs for him soon or else he's going to be a nutcase like Ankiel (the pitcher Ankiel, of course)
"Oh, that Lankford and McGee, the trio of 'em. They're a one-man wrecking crew."
think he's been badly mismanaged. All set last year to take over a rotation spot, then they bring in !Pontoon? and point out in the hand book all Card's pitchers got to have a sinker..guy's been in organization for years, and then they get technical. So up and down, with sporadic innings, bad luck, and playing time dictated by instantenous results.
just doesn't have a good sinker and throwing it messes him up. Yea, his 4 seamer might not have quite the giddyup for pitching up in the zone, but it's no finesse pitch either, and in the minors without the micromanaging does well.
starts here and there show what he can do, plus pitching gem under WS pressure.
the micromanaging, poor defense, bad luck, and poor run support a clue that new org would help.

You cannot be more right. The Jocketty/La Russa tandem is one of the most retarded ever. What sucks is as retarded as they are , they won a world series in '06 , making people think all the shirt they do is "smart". Another example is not playing Chris Duncan every day. What is that doing for his development? Yeah Skip Schumaker and So Taguchi are stars!

Jocketty/La Russa do many things right. The development of young players is not one of those things.

Yep, when you think about it the Cardinals have never developed a young pitcher. Ever. I can't even think of one. They might do it with Wainwright but that remains to be seen. There are lots of rumors about Jocketty and La Russa leaving this off season, personally I don't see Jocketty leaving but I could see La Russa being done. Of course, they have been together along with Duncan their whole careers so maybe if one leaves, they all go.
