My vote is for Todd Jones. Great team, worthless closer. Anyone else think this is inevitable?

as much i i think so todd jones is prob staying to close. his era right now is 6 but there gonna let him close unless he goes on dl or unless he blows a ridculous number of saves in a really really short span hes not going anywhere. zumaya is def the closer next yr. the next team to get a closer might be cincnati w/ the guardado situation and whethers. he didnt blow a save tonite b/c it was a tie situation but still he lost it for them.

With Rodney on the DL again, an not pitching the great himself anyway DET doesn't have a good alternative. Jones will keep the job unless they trade for a closer. My money is on Wheeler to loose his job. Chad Quals could get the call soon. Barring that it sounds like Lidge is progressing better then expected and might be back before the allstar break, at which point he'd put Wheeler out of a job. Also the Marlins might be itching for a change, supposedly Kevin Gregg has been playing with fire lately.

Todd Jones isn't going anywhere, he is the closer for the tigers and will be unless there is a trade to replace him. Leyland loves the guy. While he has not been the greatest, up until last night he had been on a decent roll. Last night our whole bullpen sucked, so Jones won't lose his job over one bad night.

That being said, I think the next closer to lose his job is going to be Embree.
