Whats a Groin Contusion?

Jun 18 Hernandez (groin contusion) is scheduled to come off the disabled list on Friday, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Does this mean he somehow cut his groin?

Pretty sure it's another word for "bruise." Sounds like it hurts, though.

Could be worse. I remember shrivelling in pain last season just from reading that Michael Barrett was out because of a "intrascrotal hematoma"

I think if he had cut his groin (god knows how!) it would be a laceration, no?

Contusion is a fancy word for a bruise... if hes sitting out its probably bad enough that its causing atleast some muscle pain, but shouldn't last more than a a day or two.

I apologize in advance, but the worst one I've seen was crawling across ESPN's bottom line a few years ago. I forget who it was, but someone in the NHL was out for a few weeks with a "ruptured testicle"....Owww....

That happened to a teammate of mine during a softball game. The grass was a little wet from rain and a line drive skipped across the wet grass instead of bouncing off of it, and he miss it with his glove...Needless to say he was in the hospital for a little while. Poor poor guy.
