Big Unit Done?

Postby cwrtlm » Sun Jun 24, 2007 1:08 pm

Is he done or what? I am in need of dropping someone and I think he is the best candidate. I play weekly lineups points league so I can't afford to have him say he is going and then drop out at the last minute. I picked up Gallardo and see him as a better option at this point. Unit is a beast when in there for his K's, but too much of a risk right now.

I think he'll be back but then go on the DL again in a week or two. Or his starts will be severely limited to 5 innings and 60 pitches or less.

I hate the lack of updates on Randy but that not withstanding I still picked him up this week hoping he'll be back in a week or two. His numbers before going on the DL were too good for me to ignore. He was looking like the old Unit again:

Date Opp W L SV IP HA ER BBA SO
05/09 PHI 0 0 0 6.0 4 3 1 9
05/15 COL 1 0 0 6.0 1 0 0 9
05/20 PIT 1 0 0 5.2 7 2 0 10
05/30 PHI 1 0 0 6.0 1 0 0 6
06/05 SF 0 0 0 6.0 7 2 1 8
06/10 BOS 1 0 0 6.0 4 1 3 9
Finally The Rock has come back....to New York City!!

I had to drop him. Tejada is still undroppable so I had to move someone and the Unit and Zona don't give enough warning when he isn't going to start in a Weekly league. I have been burned too many times by reports he will make a start then have him scratched at the last minute. If Tejada becomes droppable in the next 3 days then I will drop him for Johnson or Slowey.

Sounds encouraging

Per Rotoworld:
Randy Johnson (shoulder) came out of a 41-pitch simulated game Monday feeling good.
"I'm pretty encouraged by what I saw today," manager Bob Melvin said. "I was surprised at how well he threw. Everything was there -- sharp slider, and he threw really well." If Johnson remains fine on Tuesday, there's a good chance he'll start Thursday against the Dodgers.
