It's a ridiculous situation. The Royals are out of the playoffs and he wouldn't be taking at bats away from anyone who is a part of the team's future. Just put him in at DH everyday.

Kind of difficult to put him at DH when KC has been playing at National league ballparks all week. Starting Monday he should be in the lineup every night.

I don't understand how KC operates when it comes to Butler either, but the previous poster has a point about their last few games being in NL parks and their plan was to have him just be available to pinch-hit during those games and then supposedly he's supposed to start DH'ing pretty much every day once they are able to.

I really don't get why they called him up as a 1st baseman only to keep having him at DH anyways, that seems to be the stupidest part about the whole thing, but as long as he's getting at-bats that's fine with me as a Butler owner. I'm sure KC is bound to screw it up one way or the other, though, I don't have much faith in them. They'll probably let him play every third day and then wonder why he can't get any kind of momentum going.

I've read somewhere that he'll just be pinch-hitting the first few days up. Then they'll move him to dh and even get some time in 1st.

The problem here is that the organization feels he is absolutely inept defensively at this point in his young career. His bat is major league ready right now. He's been up and down this year to get his glove a bit more seasoning. He'll be a regular in the lineup come Monday, with a few starts at 1B mixed in.
