um... injuries for schmidt....if you want to go there then carp runs away with it. but i dont think thats what we are talking about.
from my team its gotta be hafner. other guys slumped early and their numbers are rising. he is slumping now so his numbers are dropping....who knows how low he will go.

? Got injured but otherwise has been awesome...
I agree.... even when he was struggling, he still hit a bunch of dingers and put up good RBI numbers. If he gets his average up to .275 anytime soon, his numbers will look monstrous.
And you could say the same about Adam Dunn in the past. He'll get you 40 HR's but he'll only hit about .240 with a ton of K's. That's not what you expect from your first rounder.
Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.
I don't count injuries...so Carpenter is out. Nobody should have expected Howard's and Soriano's repeat performances...so I'm going with Hafner. His ceiling looked much higher than Berkman's, but it's nearly a toos up. Most "experts" projected a breakout year for. Luckily he gained 1B eligibility.

I'd agree with Carp if he was going to be out the entire year. The Dodgers spent $47M on someone they thought was going to be the #1 guy in their rotation and he is done for the year with 1 win to show for it, I' m thinking they believe this was a big bust.
I also think the Giants knew he was damaged goods when they made the move having seeing the drop in his velocity the 2nd half of last year and are laughing behind closed doors about this one every day.
Well, if you just look at Yahoo's Pre-Season vs. Current Rankings, you can start to answer this question by looking at who's down 50+ ranks from their predicted rank.
(Usual caveats about Yahoo's ranking methodology apply)
Beltran (4/91) Soriano (6/51) (not quite 50, but close) Berkman (15/175) Manny (17/83) Pronk (19/97) Howard (24/98) Wells (29/223) Aram (30/119) (injuries) Chipper (32/103) A. Jones (37/259) Bonds (41/101) Mauer (46/626) (injuries) Francoeur (48/154)
