Luke Hochevar?

Postby tt1plzne1 » Thu Jun 21, 2007 3:25 pm

According to Conor Nicholl, of Royals.MLB.com, Kansas City Royals P Luke Hochevar is an option to replace SP Scott Elarton (foot) in the starting rotation.

This guy was the number one overall pick in 2006. If he's called up, is he worth a look in a deep league?

Possibly, but remember this is the Royals. Greinke was a highly touted prospect as well and look what happened to him. I think you have to wait and see before adding him.

I own Hochevar in a dynasty and have been monitoring his performance all year. Even in AA he's getting hit decently -- albeit in a hitter's league -- so I don't think Luke would have any real immediate impact in 2007.

As a KC fan, I can tell you that Luke has no shot of seeing the bigs this year. It looks as though they're gonna give Buckner a shot in Elarton's spot.

Only 3 HR and a .143 ISO from a first baseman in 118 AAA PA so far? Nice AVG but he's looking an awful lot like James Loney right now.

Agreed.....The first shot will likely go to Buckner. Lumsden would probably be the next guy who gets the opportunity even though he needs a few more consistant starts before he'll likely get a look. I doubt Hoch sniffs the bigs this year unless its 1 or 2 starts in Sept.
