Who are some up-and-coming Pitchers?

Postby kr580 » Thu Jun 21, 2007 12:53 am

With most of the big names up (Hughes, Bailey, Lincecum, Gallardo, etc) who are some pitching prospects flying under the radar? Who might be worth picking up for the near future?

Thanks - Kevin

Matt Garza, P, Minnesota Twins Thursday 6/21, 9:26 AM CT

Matt Garza’s numbers are not that impressive at Triple-A Rochester, but Twins minor league director Jim Rantz sees progress. “He’s going to be back [in the major leagues]; it’s just a matter of when,” Rantz told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “Hopefully the next time he goes back, he’s there to stay.” After a brief quibble with the organization about his failure to mix in enough off-speed stuff, Garza is reportedly back to throwing all four of his pitches while touching up to 96 miles per hour with his fastball. He is just 3-6 with a 3.71 ERA, but has shown signs of progress in recent starts.

I'd have to agree, with the possible exception of Garza. Don't fall into the hype.
