Jason Schmidt done for the season

It comes as no surprise that the damage was severe. Schmidt will miss the rest of the season. The Dodgers expect him to be ready to pitch next spring, but only time will tell if he'll regain his stuff. At this point, the Dodgers would have to be pleased if he's just a solid third starter in the final two years of his three-year, $47 million contract.

well, at least they didn't sign him to a Hampton sized deal. That's about the only silver lining for them.

I'd like to say this was surprising, but after the last few seasons I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. I'm also suprised anyone gave him such a big contract. It's like Kevin Brown X-I all over again for the Dodgers :~( , only prorated to 3 year deal for Schmidt.
