i had a pending trade giving dice-k for ryan howard and it got vetoed. i know that im getting the part of the deal but is this vetoable? the other guy has 3 1bs(morneau,howard,a.gonzalez) and i have a ton of pitching(dicek, oswalt, halladay, johan santana, josh beckett, carlos zambrano, john lackey).
Honestly this is pretty awful, and while my league doesn't have a league wide veto, if we did I would definitely do it.
Trading a nearly concensus top 5 pick who is underperforming because of little nagging injuries.(but is now killing it since being healthy) For an average draft position 50 player?
Obviously howards value to date isn't great but just because a guy goes through a slump doesn't make him worthless...
Would you allow an ortiz, utley or reyes trade for dice-k?
Or would you allow any of those for say... joe nathan? How has around the same average draft value, and around the same current value(via 5x5 leagues)
Unless there is some serious issue, I don't see trading an underperforming 4th rounder, for an underperforming 1st rounder as being a non-vetoable trade in any format. Perhaps if there was someone else of some value... but your basically looking at trading a 4th rounder for a 1st rounder straight up...
well this is a league where 50% of the trades get vetoed. in addition to that there are only 2 teams out of 6 that log in on a weekly basis. this makes trading even harder. i have the most pitching in the leauge and he has 3 1b-mornaeu, howard, a.gonzalez. so if he accepted that trade i dont see the problem with it. esp. in our league, some ppl dont know when it is right to veto. veto prevents a losing team or w/e from basically dumping his team on a top team. for example, garret atkins for arod.
How many starting pitchers does every team in your league carry? In a 6team mixed league, there could be guys on the waiver wire who are nearly as good as dice-k has been...which makes trading one of the best fantasy players in the league for him downright silly.
Value in a 6team mixed league is all screwed up, because anyone who isn't an elite talent... is worth basically nothing.(because there will always be waiver wire guys nearly or just as good)
most everyone has 4 starters except me: johan santana, roy oswalt, roy halladay, dicek, matt cain, carlos zambrano, and john lackey. so you can see i have some pitching to give. idk he offered it to me and i accepted. it seemed to help both of our team needs and didnt seem that that unfair to veto. but yet again my league vetoes over 50% of trades...
Thats exactly my point... Everyone has 4 starters, so only the top 24 starters should be owned at all. Dice-k has not been one of those so far, and while he projects to be somewhere between 15-30th approximately, it basically means he has no or very little value going forward, and certainly not anywhere near the value of howard.
On cbs hes 28th, on yahoo hes 48th(thats starting pitcher rankings)
