If its Linebrink, then this is huge.....possible closer for the Cubbies, and Dumpster (I mean Dempster) can join the Rotation.
Why would the Pads, make that move, it can't be Linebrink......

Great trade for the cubs then
Indeed. And if Marmol keeps progressing and pitching like he did last night, this could be a 180 for what was a very shaky bullpen.

I'm just passing on rumors at this point. Don't know that it's credible. This was passed onto me from a friend, so I don't know if The Score sited any sources, or if they were just speculating.

In return the Cubs will receive backup catcher Rob Bowen, a minor league pitcher and cash considerations, Olney reported.

Well, they already have Bard at C (which is the only position Bard has played in the majors), so I don't know if they're looking at a platoon or what. They already have Adrian Gonzalez at 1B, so neither of them will get moved their. Seems like and odd move for the Padres.

That makes more sense, Bullpen relievers like Linebrink, will cost allot when it comes closer to the deadline......
Thanks for the update, (I can relax about claiming Linebrink on my free agent wire)

changes Barrett's value. Lessens it. Going to a pitchers park. I'm desperate for catching in an NL only league that starts 2. Just picked up Rob Bowen. Hoping he's headed to Chicago - they can't possibly start Koyie Hill.

People, people... settle down. Barrett will never net you Linebrink. No way, no how.

Not only going to a pitcher's park, but going to a team that already has a decent catcher.
I'm guessing Henry Blanco gets the majority of starts once he comes off the DL.
