Hey folks, I'm in first place in my 12 team, H2H, standard stat, 9-player keeper league. BUT, I've got recent injuries, FA picks, and current FA guys I'm looking at and I need YOUR help, please. Here's the team:
C - B Molina 1B - A Gordon, Kotchman (out for a few games), Teix (DL) 2B - Figgins, Weeks (currently occupying a DL space, but I might need to move him soon) 3B - MCab SS - Jeter OF - Sizemore OF - Rios OF - Bay Util - Hart
SP - J Santana, Peavy, Haren, Hill, Maine, Gorzelanny, Marshall, Liriano (DL) RP - Valverde, Otsuka, Neshek, Okajima
FA's available hitters: Butler (OF), F Lopez (2B, SS), Barfield (2B), Hermida (OF), Fields (3B), Estrada (C), Saltalamacchia (C), Doumit (C) Pitchers: J Vazquez, Bowie, Kuo, Owins, Sampson, Sonnanstine, Howell, Shields (I love the mid-relief)
PLEASE HELP. I've got 3 1Bmen, and 2 2Bmen and 4 OF with Butler sitting on the FA. What do I do? What moves should I make?
Your team is pretty solid all the way through. Your top three guys on your staff are sick: Santana,Peavy and Haren. the fact that you have santana and Peavy is rediculous. The only glaring weakness I see is at Closer. Maybe you could look to deal one of your extra 1b like Tex or one of your 2b maybe figgins who is hot as hell right now and will command a higher price than ever, for a top 15 closer. Maybe a guy like Ray (who will come much cheaper than usual) Wickman, or Reyes.
I don't think you have any need to add any of the guys currently on your wire. I don't see any of them filling a glaring need for you. Rate my team if you have a chance.
Yea the FA's aren't too appealing. None are worth a pick up IMO.
Yous hould definitely try and go after a closer. Like the other post said, trade one of your 1B or 2B guys, since you have so many good trade bait options there, and try and get a closer.
I think you should try to move Haren for a great hitter that you could probably use at util, since I'm not too high on Hart. Right now Haren's BABIP is .226, which is way lower than his normal BABIP. Trading him can proably wreak benefits of really top guys (maybe a vicmart or hafner type), so see how high you can sell Haren. Even if he does keep pitching great and you trade him, you still have Peavy and Johan, among others.
You need one more closer. I would suggest trying to move Bay for a upper-end closer, and then picking up Hermida. I believe that Otsuka will gain the closer jobin Tex if/when they trade Gagne, so hold him. Otherwise, a very nice team.
IMO, as well as many others it appears, the largest hole is a closer...I know that Lidge just went on DL, and by the sounds of it will be for more than 15-days so if Wheeler is still available that might be a bad pick up. Thanks for the help
the only hole that I see is the closer position. youve only got 1 closer. I would look to trade either weeks or figgins to get another closer. your OF is stacked and Kotchman should be ok for you 1B until Tex comes back. You could also look to package one of you top pitchers and a 2B for a closer and a 1B or 2 closers. good luck
Forget about the FA's ... none of them improve your team. Which looks really really good to me. Once Teix comes back, you're good to go at 1B. I'm assuming you're intentioally punting saves, right? I don't think I'd monkey with this group much at all. If you'd try anything, it might be to send out feelers trading Peavy or Haren for insanely high value, getting back a stud pitcher (but maybe one not doing as well) plus a stud hitter.
