It seems like the Royals just can't make up there mind. One minute they want to play Butler and the next they don't.
I understand the money they're paying Sweeney, but Sweeney can be there Captain from the bench.

Mike Sweeney will not be activated before the All-Star break, manager Buddy Bell said Tuesday.

Sweeney hoped to return from an inflamed right knee on Friday. Billy Butler apparently will stick around through the weekend.

Rotoworld.

Sweeney not coming up this week could really be a blessing in disguise for Butler. Maybe this is where they realize even after Sweeney returns that Butler needs to stay up.

Solution: Butler plays first base and Gload gets sent down for Sweeney. Butler may struggle at the beginning from first base, but 1st doesen't take much distance movement. Something Butler can do perfectly. To be honest, does KC think they can get any worse? They need to play there young talent, by playing there old guys they're just wasting good years of a WHAT COULD BE- a rebuilding process.-

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) _ Mike Sweeney, a five-time All-Star with the Kansas City Royals, will have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Thursday.

Sweeney, a career .302 hitter entering this season, was placed on the disabled list on June 19 with the knee injury. The knee, however, did not respond to treatment and became worse when Sweeney attempted to run.

Sweeney said he would likely be out two to six weeks depending on what doctors find during the surgery.

Excellent news for anyone still holding on to Butler. Hopefully he can build on last night's performance.

Does Butler have the potential to rise to Pence or Braun status as far as rookies go?

In short, yes. He doesn't have any speed at all, but he has much more power than Pence, and a little more power than Braun.

It's funny how the Royals lucked themselves into a good situation with Sweeney going down again because they would never have sat Sweeney in favor of Butler.

Noticed Butler was in the 3-hole today. Was this an anomaly or can we expect more of this in the future?
