No. Instead of waiting until June to call up Gordon as to not start his clock too early, they handed him the job in April so he can suck it up for two months in MLB. They started Butler's clock early as well and then benched him. THen sent him down only to call him up again to bench him. Now that he is starting to hit, they are going to send him down when Sweeney comes off the DL. Great minds...

Mike Sweeney is making 11 millions this year. For a team with a payroll like the Royals. You just don't bench this type of guys no matter what.

Butler's only position right now is DH, he can't play left worth a crap and we have yet to see him in 1B in the majors. Royals were in interleague when he was called up so he's not going to start at all due the the defensive inability.

As to Gordon, well, you were looking forward to him taking over a starting job too in April I bet. He seemed ready back then. Of course he didn't hit all that well for 2 months, but what's to say he wouldn't suck it up for 2 month if his promotion is delayed half a year?

Again, you have any better idea? Letting Butler play defense or letting Sweeney play defense not being one of them?

Has Sweeney lived up to his contract? Is he any part of the Royals future?

It isn't like Butler wasn't hitting the ball at AAA. If their lineup is so stacked that they can't find a place for Butler to play regularly, then why start his clock early and bring him up to rot on the bench? They did this not once but twice already and we are only half way through the season. You guys can keep defending the management for their moves but they are a bunch of morons.

Still waiting for the solution, where you'd start him ;-7

And I'd be one of the first to criticize the management. But not here.

Exactly. Of course the Royals are a horribly ran organization and there are dozens of reasons why. But this move is a no-brainer.

You're exactly right Yoda with this...None of these moves the Royals have made add up to any sense.

The solution is........LOOK TO THE FUTURE.

What's to gain by playing Sweeney.....no matter what his contract is?
That agruemnt always cracks me up. They made one bad decision by signing him to a big long term contract......so lets make another bad decision by continuing to playing him when a) he's not producing, and b) he's a log jam to the development of your teams future talent.

These types of decisions are made to save face....not for the betterment of the team.
But in the end, it just makes them look worse.

There is no "great solution".....they're the Royals.....
