im not surprised. does that effect their pitching coach Leo Mazzone? is Mazzone under contract? if a new manager comes in would he replace Mazzone or does Mazzone remain there all season? Mazzone was one of the better pitching coaches coming out of Atlanta, and i imagine could be really sought after by alot of teams if he was to become available.

I know that he went to Baltimore b/c of his friendship with Perlozzo, so i would imagine he may want out now

Hah! Sucks for Leo.... Still, I doubt he'll come back to Atlanta. While I don't doubt it would help our pitching staff out (Mazzone is good), I was hearing a lot of rumors of a split developing between he and the Cox/Schurholtz team. Most of this had to do with the latters feeling that Mazzone was doing too much spotlight-seaking and such. Regardless of the reasons, it sounded like Mazzone wasn't getting along too well with his bosses, and this is one of the reasons the Braves didn't fight all that hard to keep him.
Anyhow, I fully expect that Mazzone will land on his feet somewhere else, although I kind wish everyone would kiss and make up and bring him back to ATL.

I agree, but i wouldn't be so quick to think that Girardi will take the job. He knows that Torre is on the hot seat and i am sure people in the Yanks office have spoken with him, i think if he believes he has a shot at that job he will wait
what was Perlozzo before he became the Orioles manager? hitting coach/bench coach/other? would a team hire Perlozzo to be a coach simply to persuade Mazzone to come on as pitching coach?
