these two are virtually identical in their production... except that vlad k's less. with that in mind, is it time to consider holliday as a viable first round option?
why though? surprisingly, he actually outperformed vlad last year in a 5x5 according to baseballmonster. he's again outperforming vlad this season. check for yourselves. if vlad is considered a top 5 pick, holliday should be right up there as well.
yeah but vlad has history by his side ... holliday has had one good year. If holliday keeps up what he is doing right now...i wouldn't be surprised if holliday was taken before vlad next year. I can see him going early 2nd round....maybe in some leagues he'll go late first. But top 5?? no way....you see holliday going before the likes of Arod, pujols, reyes, crawford, mcab, utley, santana? i don't...
I think it depends on youe league. A Keeper league I would value Holliday a little more because he is younger. Where as Vlad at 32ish, maybe??, is going to start the decline with age. Year to Year I'd call them about even.

Vlad is 31, and contrary to popular belief, he's one of the healthiest and least injury prone players in the league. Holliday is 27.

27 to 31 is still 4 more years of presumably high level production. I don't doubt that Vlad, with the exception of a few short DL Stints has remained fairly healthy. But his prime years are coming to an end, where as Holliday's are just beginning

my mistake... for some reason i thought vlad was still a top 5 pick. probably because of his adp the past few years prior to this season. my, how the mighty have fallen (but only a little!). that said, i would take holliday over vlad for next season and years to come. just thought i'd point out how valuable holliday is.
