News: DH Travis Hafner, homerless in June, and in a prolonged slump, got a second straight day off Monday with the Indians facing LHP Cole Hamels and the Phillies. Hafner, who is 5-for-30 in his past eight games, also sat on Sunday.
Analysis: Manager Eric Wedge felt it's a good time to give his DH a mental health break. Hafner has only one homer in his last 18 games and entered Monday with a .262 average. "The best thing about it is we have a long way to go," Wedge said. "That's one thing about great hitters like Travis, you know they are going to come around. Hopefully a couple days off will help him." The Indians face rookie right-handed Kyle Kendrick, so look for Hafner in his familar DH role on Tuesday.
