Postby Swept Away » Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:21 am

I'm in a 12-team, 5x5 roto with 3 keepers. I need to make my move before I fall too far behind the leaders. Let me know where you think I need to upgrade. Thanks!

C- Pierzynski, Estrada
1B- Garko (Overbay*)
2B- Kent
3B- C. Jones
SS- C. Guillen
CI- Mora
MI- M. Giles
OF- Crawford, Sizemore, Markakis, Jenkins, Lofton
DH- Ortiz

BN- Lind, Kouzmanoff

SP- C. Zambrano, Smoltz, Blanton, Wainwright, Olsen, Garland, Ol. Perez, J.Johnson*, F. Garcia*
RP- Jenks, Weathers, Dempster, Broxton

DL- Overbay, J.Johnson, F. Garcia

Your OF and SP is your team's strength IMO. The only place where I can see an upgrade would be getting rid of Melvin Mora. I think he is past his prime and won't do much this season or beyond this season. Maybe package Mora with one of your OF, SP's or possibly 1B for an upgrade at CI. Thanks for your help with mine.

your infield as a whole looks average... and chipper jones being hurt has not helped you as well

I would look to put Crawford on the trading block and see if you can upgrade your 1B and OF at the same time; you can throw in one of your weaker SPs if you don't feel like dropping anybody

With Crawford, Sizemore and Ortiz, you're very strong at DH and in your outfield, but the rest of that lineup seems adequate at best.

Guys like Kent and Guillen, for example, will be productive when healthy but both routinely have injury concerns and will likely end up in the bottom half of the top 10 guys at their position. Basically, starter material, but not a strength. (And given Chipper's DL stint, he's obviously included there.)

You can live with those guys in your lineup, and Mora and Giles are probably pretty good second-tier infielders to have at MI and CI, but combined with your weakness at 1B that definitely does need to be addressed, I think you're going to be forced to deal either an elite pitcher or an elite hitter in return for a group of players that can fill a couple needs at once.

I'd be inclined to see if you can get someone to overbid on Smoltz, who's clearly a top pitcher if healthy but just skipped a start -- which could be nothing or could signal something serious.

I might sell Smoltz high an try to get some infield help. C, 1B, or possibly 3B could be an area to address. Otherwise you should be ok in the 2nd half.

Please help
