Johnson has been scratched from his scheduled start on Saturday due to lower back pain, the Associated Press reports.
Spin: Johnson is scheduled to undergo a precautionary MRI and manager Bob Melvin is hopeful that Johnson will be able to return after missing just one start. Edgar Gonzalez will get the start in his place, although he's been pitching in relief and will likely be limited to 70-75 pitches on Saturday. We'll have more on the extent of Johnson's injury as we know it.

Jun 15 The Associated Press reports Arizona Diamondbacks SP Randy Johnson (buttocks) will not make his scheduled start against the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, June 16. He was expected to meet the team in Baltimore, but, according to the Diamondbacks, Johnson was unable to make his flight because of a sore gluteus maximus muscle. Arizona is debating whether or not to place Johnson on the disabled list, because doing so would allow the club to fortify its pitching staff. If he does go on the disabled list, Johnson would be eligible to return June 26. That means he would only miss one more scheduled start, which would be June 22, also against the Orioles.

Analysis: Johnson felt tightness in his buttocks muscle while playing catch, Arizona manager Bob Melvin said. He was scheduled to pitch against the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday, but was scratched before the game Friday night. Johnson is 4-2 with a 3.52 ERA and 70 strikeouts in nine starts this season. In his last outing, he allowed one run and four hits in six innings in a win over Boston. The Big Unit is at that age (42) where injuries are always a concern. However, when healthy he still remains a viable Fantasy option. He is out until late June at the earliest.

I can't decide what to do with The Unit. My DL spot is filled with better player(s), and the waiver wire is realy picked over.
