I am not caught up with this thread, but I am one who plays poker for fun with friends and does not make much money, if any, off of it. We play $5-$10 buy-ins only and it's just for fun. Not exactly rolling heavy, but that's how we like it.

the first step is admitting it.
unfortunately, i now play on pokerstars (one of my least favorite sites in the past) and i have also dabbled on bodog. i used to play alot and make consistent money off of it, but i never played buy-ins or sat with alot of cash. id play $10 or $20 buy-ins and make some nice money off of it. i dont play as much now but i have been traveling down to AC more frequently (about an hour and a half from philly) and ive been successful down there as well playing $1-$2 NL. as smoove said, the all access visa gift card is the way i deposit on pokerstars now and it doesnt fail, but it does cost $4.95 for a $50 card and $5.95 for a $100 card. although ive only deposited a handful of times in the past 6 months or so

. to cashout your money, pokerstars sends out a check and you can deposit it at your bank.
on bodog you can still use your checking account which is extremely convenient.
ive said this so many times to all of my friends. SO many people play badly, in general, and in AC. if you play the "right way", you'll easily make money in the long run. people will call you down with middle pair, fish for flush draws etc...
