Mets ink Shane Spencer

The New York Mets signed free-agent outfielder Shane Spencer to a one-year deal Thursday and invited him to spring training as a non-roster player.

This is starting to look like a great signing. Not much power so far but getting on base with the big bats in that lineup he could fit in nicely.

Shane Spencer has definately been a pleasant suprise on this Mets team. As kentx12 said, he's getting on base consistantly and givin Piazza, Floyd, Cameron or whoever is hitting behind him to get some ribbies.....

with only 185 ABs last year, he did not get a chance to show his power,,,but oh well maybe he can show the japanese this year his talent......

Spencer is a very good player who I think would be better than the AAAA player he is if he would ever dedicate himself to baseball the way he dedicates himself to drinking.
