MLB: One scout says Halos are the best team in the Majors

The Boston Red Sox and New York Mets are often mentioned when the topic of conversation turns to the best teams in baseball this year, but another team, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, has been gaining supporters in recent weeks.

“They’re the best in baseball right now,” one scout said of the Angels. “I’ve seen all three teams, and they’re all very good, but if I had a choice, the Angels are the last team I’d want to play right now.”

...Another scout said the Angels’ depth and versatility are what separates them from most teams.

“They’ve got guys like Vladdy [Guerrero] and [Gary] Matthews who can beat you with the home run,” another scout said. “But they can also beat you with their running game. They’ve got speed at the top and off the bench. Everybody in their lineup, top to bottom, can hurt you in multiple ways.”

I picked them for the WS, then doubted myself in favor of Boston, but now I think it's really the Angels who have the edge, although I really have trouble believing that Cabrera, Figgins, Willits AND Matthews will all keep it up. I mean, weren't people saying they really needed a big bat earlier this year? So, I'll stand by the pick anyway.

But going forward, there is definitely no team with a brighter future than the Angels. They've got Shields locked into a contract, a lot of young talent, etc. etc. Man. I think the management has done an excellent job.

It is amazing what a hot start can do for a team. I still think they need another impact bat if they expect to go anywhere.

they definetly have the pieces that could take them to another championship and its their pitching...of course the hot bats will help but without pitching...they wouldnt be considered one of the best teams in the majors...
