Hey guys - I'm hoping to find some cool owners for a new private Yahoo league I have just set up. It is ten team, 21-man roster, 1-day waiver wire, daily changes, AL/NL, roto scoring.
The stats are : R-H-2B-3B-HR-RBI-SB-K-AVG-OBP for batters.
W-L-S-HD-IP-K-SH-ERA-WHIP-K/BB for pitchers.
Looking for serious owners only, people who will be active at least every 2-3 days and will make and consider fair trade offers to and from other teams. This should be a very unique, fun and challenging league.
If interested, the Yahoo league ID# is 88036 and the password is bigplay.......
Thanks........

Unusual, perhaps, but so many random categories is a little much for seriousness. While, in principle, the there is nothing less serious about 10 or even 20 categories, the problem is that it is hard to find that many categories that have any real meaning.
For example, shut-outs, batter strikeouts, doubles and triples seem relatively meaningless in the league advertised while hits and K/BB seem duplicative.
True, and I've been involved in more than my share of leagues with silly stats (including many of those listed in this 10 x 10 league), BUT the 5x5 league, although standard, is not some kind of amazingly perfect method of assessing player talent. Using AVG instead of OBP, for instance, probably isn't ideal if you're truly trying to measure a player's contributions.

At any rate, this discussion (which I do find very interesting, and which will lead to a very wide range of opinions) shouldn't be here, but in the Fantasy Talk section. In particular, league formats shouldn't be criticized here, especially when it's all primarily a matter of taste.
If you've never tried a 10x10 format, give hooligan1's league a look.
I just get tired of always playing 5x5. It's fun, but I've become such a stats-junkie that I like leagues that track stats other than just the traditional ten. Last year, I was in a private league with a bunch of my friends that was 14 teams, NL-only with 16 stats EACH for batting and pitching. It was crazy, but also kinda fun!
I will admit that there are some redundant stats in there, but so what? If we have fun that's all that really matters.....
If you've never tried a league beyond 5x5, then by all means, join up!! There are still six spots available......
Thanks
