So I've seen you write more than once tonight. Care to extrapolate on that comment? I can see what you are getting at, but surely the 3 years difference in age and the fact that Kazmir was the more successful pitcher last year can make the statement: Ollie Perez is a poor man's Kazmir?
I'm not sure who I'd take, and in fact I think they are very similar pitchers - tremendously talented southpaws who are prone to the big inning but have the potential to be aces. But claiming one is a poor man's version of the other? I think they are pretty much interchangable at this point...
Obviously Kazmir is younger and more successful. Almost as frustrating to watch as Ollie when he struggles.

Yikes! Don't drop JShields. Trade him instead. Unlike Kazmir, he has value.
Only good thing about Kaz are his Ks, his W, ratios suck. I'm contemplating whether to dump him for good RP who will use up less innings and probably get just as many W and some cheap Saves w/o hurting the ratios. 2 RP combined > 4th or 5th SP

I wouldn't drop Kaz regardless... too much talent.

I don't know how anyone can say Kaz has no value. He obviously has to work on his command and not trying to strike out every batter in the park, but with his stuff he can turn back into an ace at any given moment. At the worst, keep him on the bench.

I was hurting for steals, so I sent Kazmir packing for Victorino. Looking at that remaining schedule, the fact that he can barely pitch passed the 5th inning and the fact that his arm can fall off any minute now, I think I made a great deal. K's have never been a problem for me this year and thats been his main stat. Good riddance.
So Kaz's first start since he went back to his old mechanics was fantastic. The only worry is a potential injury but I think I'd rather have him pitch great for a few months rather than continue to suck it up while staying healthy. Any thoughts?
