Dye - What is his deal

Postby three_peat » Mon Jun 11, 2007 3:50 pm

Is he just in a prolonged slump or what? I didn't really expect him to hit 40+ bombs again, but come on a .220 avg.

I can't seem to use the search function so what does everyone think about dye.

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting all year for him to snap out of this. Im starting to get really choked that I kept him over Rios as one of my keepers. Lets hope he explodes in the 2nd half.

I watch every Sox game I can, so here is my take...

On one hand, Jermaine is swinging at bad pitches. The low and away curve/slider is simply a pitch that I haven't seen Dye take this season. On the other hand, he has never been a patient hitter.

When he makes contact, the flyballs seem to land on the warning track, and the groundballs are right at the SS/3B. After checking his babip(http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/stats ... stName=dye) it appears as though he has been more than unlucky. He and Konerko seem to be prime buy-low candidates at this point.
