18 team h2h dynasty league. I have a lot of good pitching and a lot of solid offensive players but not many young guys. Who would you rather have Yovanii Gallardo or Cameron Maybin. I realize they play on opposite sides of the ball and that many people take hitters over pitchers but i'm stuck here. Any help would be great

Without looking at needs, I'd have either. It really depends on the needs. i'd probably go with Maybin cause OF is a hard position to fill up, at least in my league.

Gallardo by a mile.

Gallardo is a month or two away from the majors at most. Maybin is probably at least two years away.

Gallardo is a #1 starter for an up-and coming team who should dominate a weak division for the next 5 or so years.

Maybin is an extremely fast OF, who Ks way too much and doesn't show any significant power yet. His GB/FB ratio is extremely unnatractive and when coupled with his equally poor LD%, doesn't support his current batting average.

The apologists will talk about how Maybin has yet to fill-in, or has been injured, or is young, or blah blah blah. Why risk it? Gallardo is only 2 years older, but is dominating two levels higher.

Maybin potential is just so high. I'd take him if you can wait.

I don't know why everyone is fawning over Maybin's potential. He sttrikes out 1/3 of his AB and doesn't hit for power.

Aside from him being really really fast, what indication has he shown that he's got all this potential?

And whatever "potential" Maybin has shown in A-ball is completely dwarved by the actual tangible numbers Gallardo put up in A and AA last year, when he led the minors in Ks and had phenomenal ratios, and is doing much of the same in AAA right now.

I can't believe I'm the only person who has sided with Gallardo.

Gallardo simply because he is much closer to contributing. You can probably trade him for a bat if you need to and get someone equal or better than Maybin when he gets called up.

I think Gallardo is a much safer bet and the best choice. Maybin is a great talent, but as stated above you probably will be able to find a similar bat for Gallardo later on if needed.

Probably too late, but take Gallardo and run. Prospects are just too risky, and when you have a guy dominating AAA (and now soon to be the majors) the way Gallardo is right now, and the way Maybin is struggling you have to take the more dominating one.

I personally feel Maybin is overrated, but still a top 20 prospect.
