Thome is a bad example for the point you are trying to make.

While Thome had a good year in Philly, it wasn't as good as 01, and really quite away from 02. The difference is Thome's huge splits at the Jake, where he posted 150-200 higher ops then road. I agree with ARLO and GTWMA assessments.

With inter-league play I think the players know the other parks, leagues and pitchers much better than they used to. AL pitchers moving the NL (Clemens + Pettitte) will now have to bat AND run. I look for them to have more injuries early. Batters? No real problem when you're talking Vlad or Sheff. I would put Vlad in the top three hitters (with A-Rod and Pujols) and Sheff in the top ten...even with the moves.

Since runs and rbis are a team dependent stat, and obvioussly Philly was a little better than Cleveland in this regard in '03. Now Thome has always been a 2nd half player, but if it wasn't for those 20 homers he hit during the last 7 weeks of the season it would have been a huge dissapointment.

I guess there is no need to point out his .266 BA vs the .300 and .291 he posted the two years before.
Oh thats right.... most of the people here don't really pay attn to BA. It not an important stat so sorry ... you were right. Thome fit into the NL just perfectly...

Vlad is a top 5 pick (possibly number 3) even aftter the league switch. He is a bonafide stud.

I've got Vlad at #3 or #4 overall. I'd have no problem drafting him, in fact, I recently acquired him in a keeper league.

Last season his 1st half and 2nd half stats were very similar.
