Just read where he has hit 1 HR and 12 RBI's in nearly 6 weeks now since the last part of April. Is he injured? Got that massive contract and has fallen flat on his face!

he has fully recovered from the "annus-contraho" disease from last year.

he is killing me....i traded al reyes and granderson for him, trying to buy low. but since ive got him he has hit 200 with 6 rbi.....ever night is an 0 for....... have you guys started benching him? i put him on the bench starting with last night.

I've benched him in two leagues for Corey Hart until he turns it around.

yep, benched him too. But my other outfield options are pretty good. Swisher, Sizemore, Bill Hall, and Soriano.

yep im benching him in favore of guys like willy taveras and jhonny peralta. until he shows signs of coming out of this slump, the bench is where he belongs.

I am going to be wary in the future of drafting or trading for any player who received a big contract in the offseason. My three biggest underperformers on my team is V. Wells, B. Hall, and J. Lugo who all got big contracts in the offseason. The only one who panned out far on my team is Carlos Lee. Don't know if it is the euphoria of knowing you have financial security but sometimes I wish ball players would be paid yearly based upon their performance. Having said that, there is no news at all on any potential injuries. I hope Wells can turn it around but with so many underperforming players on my team I have no choice but to play Wells everyday. His trade value has dropped considerably so there is no point in trying to trade him. The talent is there, but at this point in time I am not sure if the desire is there. Maybe he'll have another career year in the last year of his contract ... seven years from now.

I just packaged Wells along with Papelbon, who has been disappointing for me in a H2H format because of the Sox high margin of wins beyond 3 runs and also their relunctance to use him in back to back save ops when they do come. I traded the both of them for Ben Sheets and Jim Thome. We'll see if it pays off or not, though I dont mind taking the risk as I am convinced Wells will not return to 06 form.
