Buy Low on Daniel Cabrera?

Will Cabrera's ERA and WHIP come down later this year? Not really talking about wins etc.

They are both below his career average, so I would say no. The disturbing thing about Cabrera this season are his K rates. For a guy who came into the season averaging over a K an inning to to only have 68 in 84 IP is concerning. People would put up with his high percentages in the past two seasons because of his his K rates. That is not the case this year. I would pass on Cabrera.

In a roto league, I'm sure he's a headache and not very helpful. But not everyone plays in roto leagues.

In my points based head to head dynasty league, he's a nice pitcher to have. Overall, among all SP and RP, he's ranked 63rd right now, and that's pretty nice value for a 16 team league.

His K rate is a bit down so far this year, but his walk rate on the season is a little less that 4.5 per 9 IP, and that's a huge improvement over last year. He's a big tease, but if you accept the good with the bad, in the end he can still provide decent value in non-roto leagues. Accepting the bad is the frustrating part, because he's not only inconsistent from start to start, he's inconsistent from inning to inning. In his last start, he gave up 4 runs and walked 3 or 4 in the first 2 innings, but he was awesome from the 3rd through the 8th innings and ended up with the win.

He's very, very capable of mainting the ERA and WHIP he's got right now.

I agree. h2h, he's not a bad option compared to what's out there. I'm still waiting for Leo to turn this boy into Smoltz and that alone keeps me Startin' him. When he's on, he's a beast. Just watch his matchup and avoid obvious blowups.
