2007 Devil Rays draft

Postby raiders_umpire » Thu Jun 07, 2007 7:32 pm

Pick #1--David Price-College LHP
#65-William Kline-College RHP
#95-Nicholas Barnese-High School RHP
#125-David Newmann-College RHP
#155-Dustin Biell-High School Outfielder

Would really have loved to seen at least 2 sticks with these first 3 picks. Our pitching is much more superior to our bats in the minors, and the difference will be even more bigger once the two studs in AA get called up. We really needed to add some depth to our offensive side. Well hopefully Price works out to be this "Ace", and then we can use some of our pitching depth to get a few more bats.

They are supposed to be going after a lot of position players today since they loaded up on pitching the first day

There is definitely some potential bats available, but we have to go bats from here on out. I don't think we have room for anymore pitching in the minors if we can sign the 4 guys from yesterday. I am still shocked at the Kline pick in Round 2.

Yea i agree we have more pitching than we know what to do with now. I think sometimes they make these picks so the fans beleive they are addressing the problem, when they have addressed that problem for a while now and the results will be soon. We need to replenish the bats now with the loss of Young, Upton, Rocco, CC, Dukes etc that were in the system and have been called up. They were ecstatic to get Kline in the second so they must have been real high on him and did not believe he was going to be there. I did find it interesting that 2 of the players we drafted have already had TJ surgery
