5x5 Pitching Strat to overload on SP?

Postby Vanadis » Thu Jun 07, 2007 1:31 pm

So I'm in a Yahoo 12 team weekly league. I was wondering if this strategy works.

I have to start 3 SP, 3 RP, 1 P.

So I was wondering how starting a SP with RP eligibility like Sosa as one of the 3 RP and the P spot also as a SP (especially rotating in guys with 2 games that week).

Then you'd be starting 5 SP, 2 closers.

I was thinking this way, you'd "lock up" wins and strikeouts since 2 starts gets more strikeouts and more likely wins also.

Then the ERA and WHIP stats are a tossup with saves also being completely winnable.

Or maybe the opposite is better? Start 3 SP and 4 closers?

you might not lock up Ws, but you'd probably lock up Ks. you'd stand a pretty good chance of losing SVs though. not entirely sure since i only play in daily change leagues, not weekly. i would think that a decent strategy in weekly leagues would be to load up on 2 start pitchers.
