Don't look now but he is on fire. His last 5 starts have produced the following numbers;

4-0/37 IP/24K/ 1.46 ERA/.84 WHIP

Not to shabby for a guy that is on a lot leagues.

The kid knows how to pitch. He's a very very smart guy. A Greg maddux type with lots of movement.

A better pitcher in real life then fantasy though

He's had 6 straight starts of 7 or more innings and 2 or fewer runs. He had a solid stretch of usefulness at the end of last year too. If he's not owned in your league, the other managers are asleep at the wheel, period.

He was useful last year UNTIL the end of the year.

As of August 31, 2006, his ERA was at 3.64 and he had 11 wins. Two starts before that, his ERA had been down to 3.38.

He had a rough first couple starts in 2006, but spent almost all of May through September with an ERA in the mid to high 3's. A terrible September caused his ERA to jump up over 4, but he showed signs of putting things together.

I traded Chris Ray to get him in a dynasty league this offseason, and I'm glad I did.

Wrap your head around this.

If you started Jeff Francis last night ... against the Yankees ... at Coors ... here's what you got:

7 IP, W, 9 K, 1.29 ERA, 0.86 WHIP

Of course, I didn't have the guts to start him, but if he's a free agent in your league, you should be paying attention by now.

I drafted him in the 23rd round this year, dropped him mid-april, picked him up on waivers mid-may and got this return for the effort.
Date Opp W L IP HA ER BB SO
05/18 KC 0 0 7.1 7 1 0 6
05/23 ARI 1 0 7.0 5 0 2 4
05/28 STL 1 0 7.2 5 2 1 3
06/02 CIN 1 0 7.0 5 1 1 6
06/08 BAL 0 1 7.0 7 4 1 6
06/14 BOS 1 0 5.0 7 0 2 6
06/20 NYY 1 0 7.0 5 1 1 9
I read a commetary recently where players who did reach first base told todd helton that they just can't figure this guy out, and it seems to be evident by the numbers. The guy just knows how to pitch.

I'm loving this. He's basically the only good thing on my Hot Stove team at the moment.

I picked him up last week when Randy went on the DL and I started him with confidence last night. Looks like I am going to have to find permanent spot for him on my roster. ;D
