Im trying to be patient with him, but he doesnt seem to heat up anytime soon. I know the HRs will continue but the 40 HR Sexson might be far gone by now. Im just thinking of riding along with what's hot on the wire. Thoughts?
He will come around, but I think the 40 HR Sexson is done. He'll hit around .260-.265, but barring injury he's a lock for 30 HR, 90 RBI and he will probably hit get 35 HR, 100+ RBI. I doubt there's anything better on your wire.
Look at the splits, if you weren't going to ride out his horrid first 2-3 months, why draft him at all? He will be good to very good in the second half, and unless your in a very shallow league, definitely better than anyone you will get off waivers. In the last 3 years Pre all star break-800 Ops Post all-star break-987 Ops
He put up a post all-star break ops of 1.012 as recently as the far away year of 2006.
If you can find someone on the waiver wire who can put up a 900+ Ops, hit 20hr, score 40+runs, and drive in over 50 after the allstar break, by all means go for it.
Personally I would hang on, and enjoy his best play when you need it the most, in the playoffs.

Right on. He's going to be fine. I've got Dan Johnson backing him up when needed, so I'm comfortable when Sexson is struggling, but I fully expect him to rebound like he did last season. And he has shown signs of life the past few weeks as well.
"Oh, that Lankford and McGee, the trio of 'em. They're a one-man wrecking crew."

i wouldnt take this advice
sexson's career numbers
pre-all star break - .248 post-all star break - .290
when june started last year he was hitting .200, 6 HR, 29 RBI. At the end of the year he had 34 HR and 100 RBI, and he's capable of producing even more. i doubt theres anyone who will bring that kind of value on your ww
