He's your friend, and it sucks that happened the day after the deal was made, but there is no way that deal should be evaporated. You had no idea Armaris was gonna get hurt, and when we trade w/ people, friends or not, thats the chance we take, and unfortunately for him, he has to bite the bullet. Its not like Ramirez is out for the year, he will benefit from this trade, just not initially. Its a very fair deal, and your not a bad commish or a bad friend if you let this trade stand.
And for future trades, you should take a league vote on what happens if a player gets injured after a trade has been accepted. My guess is that they'll say to let it stand.
But this is exactly the reason why I changed our trades from "commish vote" to "league vote". I play with friends, and I got a hard time any time I didn't let someone's really bad trade through, or when I let a questionable trade through.
Very few things are better than laughing at a friend's fantasy sports misfortune. You have no idea how lucky you are. You managed to unload a-ram just before he got hurt and you managed to dump a-ram on your buddy. You couldn't write a better script. It's like seeing a buddy get hit in the nuts. It's extremely funny as long as you know that he's not seriously hurt. Your buddy will somehow manage to pull through obtaining a-ram and losing him immediately without sustaining serious physical or psychological damage. Savor the moment.
The deal should stand. I don't know why the owner would want it cancelled when A-Ram's injury isn't anything serious. He's probably just having second thoughts and is using this as an excuse.
I think it's your call and your call alone if you want to cancel it. You're not obligated to do so, but if you decide to be nice, that's fine too. It's not unethical if you don't cancel it, though - you're within your rights to stay the course...
We had a trade go through pre-season were an owner traded Bonds for Taveras. In yahoo you click accept trade then it asks if you are sure and you have to click yes. After Bonds get off to a good start the guy that traded him away says that he unintentionally accepted the trade. The commisioner made the other guy trade Bonds back to the idiot that got rid of him. Now that is being kind.
It's unfortunate for the guy getting aram, but this has to go through. If Vlad had gotten hurt, I don't think he would have offered to go back on the deal.
