Looks like he's heating up! Four HR's in his last 8 games. He's a big time second half performer. What are everyone's thoughts on his value for the rest of the year?

I cut him for good in my dynasty league when Braun came up. After his first couple seasons, he was looking like a potential 40 homer guy but now he struggles to get his OPS over .800. He is always playing with some injury that supposedly saps his power or whatever. IMHO he's joined the ranks among the more overrated fantasy players at this point.

I got him as a throw-in in a deal I made a few weeks ago in my 15 teamer. I was hoping he would have a good summer and maybe give me a bit of power. So far it has worked out real well. ;D

Raiders hit the nail on the head. While Chavez may have been a highly overrated piece of material the past few years you can't deny the fact that he can be productive. If you are in need of a 3B or CI and can get this guy on the cheap then hes more than worth the risk. Just dont get yourself heavily invested. Personally In my 16 team league he's sitting on the waivers. I never had a need for him with Wright plugged into my 3B spot. However after trading wright this week and opening up a roster spot I'm hoping that chavez sits there until the trade goes through...

Which Oakland infielder would you prefer from here on out, Chavez or Dan Johnson?

For me it would Johnson pretty easily. He's hitting cleanup for the A's right now too so he should be able to get some nice numbers from that spot. He also has a great batting eye and should be able to avoid the prolonged slumps that Chavez seems go through. :b

Injuries have hampered him the past few years. He's always been a "2nd half Performer", but I've heard several times that his forearms are bothering him again. Obviously he's hot right now, but who knows how long that'll last. The forearm tendinitis comes and goes, so I'd expect peaks and valleys. He'll probably be productive, but I don't think he'll be what he was a few years ago.
