Bobby Abreu
Rafeal Furcal

Dmitri Young
Shane Victorino

team one needs saves and a 1B because Jason Giambi is on the DL. is this a vetoable trade???

Abreu side is definitely winning here. I would have to veto this. However you look at it, it's 3 WW pickups for high round picks.

i'm the commish in the league and we do the trades on league votes. Being the commish i said that i wouldn't veto any trades. I'm going to stay true to that unless it is A-Rod for Miguel Cairo. I didn't veto the trade but it did get shot down by the rest of the league.

I could go either way. On one hand, Furcal and Abreu are both being sold low and Victorino and Weathers have value, but the addition of Dmitri Young is surprising and somewhat baffling. He just seems totally mediocre to me. Good BA, but otherwise not very valuable in 5x5

If the team giving Furcal and Abreu *needs* a first baseman, he could have saved himself the trouble of making this a 3 for 2 and simply added a comparable player off of the waiver wire than Young. Not a big deal, but if they're trying to sell the legitimacy of the trade on the guy needing a first baseman it could be a red flag.

It almost looks like it might be a collusive trade, framed as a 3 for 2 to look more legitimate.

I would ask for some reasoning. People who cheat are also stupid. Check the "last league activity" time on the managers tab (if it's a yahoo league) you may find that they have times within five minutes of each other every once in a while. Also ask them to explain themselves. They might misspell the same word with both yahoo ids if you get samples of writing from "both" of them.

There might not be any foul play, but I'd check it out. If there's no foul play and they make decent cases for why they believe they are helping their teams, I might not veto.

I can't argue with that. 1 side has underachieving players that should be decent side has borderline marginal WW players.

Certainly, team 1 (Abreu/Furcal) gets the better of he deal. However, closers/saves are scarce. Team two also gets Victorino to replace Furcal. If that team has redundancy at SS, they might really want the saves and not believe Abreu will improve this year. Although the deal is lopsided, I would NOT veto it.

Victorino and Young are FA's in my 12-team league, and Weathers is right on the border (just got picked up a week ago). Furcal is a very good fantasy SS and Abreu is going to turn it around very soon, and he's especially valuable since your league counts OPS. I just might veto this one.
