Alot of you are arguing that Thome should be #3 and not Delgado, I am listening and maybe I can be convinced eventually....

Here's their last 3 seasons compared:

Delgado:

Last 3 years Team G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS
2001 TOR 162 574 102 160 31 1 39 102 111 136 3 0 .279 .408 .540 .948
2002 TOR 143 505 103 140 34 2 33 108 102 126 1 0 .277 .406 .549 .955
2003 TOR 161 570 117 172 38 1 42 145 109 137 0 0 .302 .426 .593 1.019

Thome:

2001 CLE 156 526 101 153 26 1 49 124 111 185 0 1 .291 .416 .624 1.040
2002 CLE 147 480 101 146 19 2 52 118 122 139 1 2 .304 .445 .677 1.122
2003 PHI 159 578 111 154 30 3 47 131 111 182 0 3 .266 .385 .573 .958

Let's look at the last 3 years.

Delgados earnings in a 5X5
$25
$23
$33 = $81

Thome
$31
$34
$29 = $94

Thome has a $13 edge in 3 years.

Delgados rc/27
7.59
7.73
8.96

Thome rc/27
9.23
10.92
7.52

RC/27 shows that in real life, Thome has been the better hitter the last 3 years.

Delgados ops+
141+
153+
160+

Thomes ops+
169+
191+
159+

OPS+ adjusts for parks. Even in Thomes down year last year, Delgado barely beats him.

I see Delgado going 1st round alot (mistake), while Thome goes 2nd round (good move).

Hootie, could you do me a favor and put Giambi through the same criteria? Id like to see how he holds up to those two with the stats you used.

Giambi earnings

$36
$34
$22 = $92

RC/27

12.14
9.39
7.09

OPS+

202+
174+
151+

As you can see from his RC/27 and OPS+, the decline has been big. But let's remember those 01 numbers were the best this side of Bonds. A 151 ops+, and 7.09 RC/27 is still pretty good.

I've got Thome ranked #3 right now. I also expect a pretty good year out of him with it being his second trip through the NL. :-)

I probably put Thome ahead, with Giambi/Delgado a toss up.

Giambi averge has been going down the last few years and he is striking out more and even though it don't count in fantasy baseball he has also have had fewer double in the past few years. but it clearly show that his talent is on a decline and becouse of it he is a little over valued.

You should put him behind Thome and Sexson.
