My league uses OPS and Ks as additional hitting categories. So far this year I've completely ignored OPS in all my decisionmaking and what a surpise I've got the second worst OPS in my league... My question is what are your OPS standards? For instance, I see that last year Francoeur posted a .742. I'm thinking that's low for an OF. Conversely Figgins had a .712, which for that type of player might be decent? If you've got any guidelines or can point me somewhere to look, I appreciate it. Thanks
I generally avoid guys like Figgins in an OPS league unless he drops really far down, same for any other speedster with a horrible OPS and other stats. I didn't draft anyone this year with an OPS under .800 in previous years, and if it was, it was only slightly under. I think I won my OPS league last year with a final OPS of around .900.
As for Ks, before the draft I check off the guys who have good K numbers. Most of the players on my team this year finish at or below 100 Ks.

You mean average OPS of a typical fantasy league or the average OPS of the MLB in real life?
The average OPS for my league right now is closer to .800
Ok you're right .870 is high, in my 10 team league the leader has an .882 (mine is .798 which is 4th worst, not 2nd as I earlier wrote). Fantasy-wise. Basically I'm trying to find, in general:
Excellent OPS is ___ Good is ___ Average is ___ Bad is ___ Drop this player immediately is ___

the slappy SB guys will hurt you but IMO it's ok to have one on your team. but not 2. (figgins, freel, taverous, pierre, etc...)
Yeah, it's fine to have one, as long as he contributes in other categories as well. I still like to avoid them in general and spread out the steals. I'm in 3rd place overall for steals in my league, and Jimmy Rollins has the most on my team with 10.
<700: Simply terrible. Whimp hitter, whimp hitter. 700-799: OK if you're contributing in other ways, e.g. SB, AVG, glove. 800-899: Decent season, solid power 900-999: All around great season >1000: Elite season.
