If he was gaurenteed to start I would take him over Barrett.
The key is this guy playing everyday---If he can take over Thormans job totally he should be discussed along the lines of Ryan Bruan, Bailey, and Gallardo.
His value at the catcher position is just huge if he cant find his way to a everyday player. Im hoping to hear some peoples opinions on when he will play more.
Well he had 2 chances at first yesterday,
First one was a ground ball that he kicked around 4 times and then picked up and stepped on first.
The second was a double play attempt where he threw the ball into left field trying to get the guy at second.
If he can find playing time he'd be worth a pick up, just not sure he will get time anywhere but McCann off days.
Are the Braves going to give him the at bats? At least working him at 1st is an improvement

It wasn't really a drop/trade question, that's why I clarified that. I really just wanted to get a relative number as to who he can compare to. My bad.

Most of the responses you get in the trade forum arent as insightful as the ones you get in this one...

Yeah! So screw the rules!
I don't anticipate Salty getting all that much PT this year unless the Braves do some kind of roster shakeup. They currently have 3 backup MI-types on the team in Woodward, Orr, and Prado, and this was before Chipper went on the DL. If Atlanta is smart, they'll send Orr back down to AAA and call up Tony Pena as a third C. This will at least give them the option to pinch hit Salty without fearing an injury to McCann. If this happens and there is significant PT at 1B, Salty may break 250 ABs this year, but I kinda doubt it'll happen.
