Billingsley/Kuo/Schmidt Situation

Postby Philliebuster » Sun Jun 03, 2007 10:10 am

With Kuo's recent start, that wasn't quite quality, but wasn't a shelling by any means, and Schmidt on the cusp of being called up, are we looking more like AS break to get our 2nd round look at Billings shot at starting?

He is near dominating in the relief roll, most recently with the 2 inning 5K performance. Most importantly he is not walking any batters, which was his problem last season. IMO he is going to be a solid, great pitching option when he gets the call to start.

Any timelines with the new Kuo and Schmidt developments? Little seems content with him in relief right now, maybe too content. He seems like he is ready to me, the number #1 starting pitching sleeper in the 2nd half IMO.

I have no idea how this will shake out because LA's management has been brain-dead on this issue from the beginning.

Bills should have been in the rotation out of ST. He's their #1 prospect, supposed to be their ace for years to come, finished strong in 2006 and had a great ST. Instead, they gave two rotation slots away to nobodies Tomko and Henricksen. Madness.

Then, with Bills K-ing everyone is sight while toiling in mid-relief, and an open rotation slot when Tomko did just what everyone outside of LA's management expected (i.e., suck the big one), LA passed Bills over again in favor of Kuo, who they had to call up from the minors. Double madness.
I am the Master. Don't question the Master. Just do what he says and be proud.

I read where LA wants to get Kuo at least 4 or 5 starts to see if he is a viable option for the rotation.

That's probably pretty accurate. Barring injury set backs, Kuo has tremendous upside, and a great ability to K a ton of batters.

That said he has so far not shown that he's capable of that as of late, hence the desire to give him a few trial runs.

Little probably has Kuo in his 20 team h2h league, damnit.

Luckily, in my main league i'm pretty deep in pitching. Glad to let Billingsley marinate longer, but excited to see when he gets the call.
