Wow, that isn't something you hear a Yankee fan saying very often. ;-)

Say what you want about the Yanks but they rarely, if ever, set the trend with contracts. They always let some other team set it and then they use that as a parameter.

If I'm not mistaken, Manny signed his 8 year, $160 million contract before Arod signed his deal. I also believe that there are 2, 1 year options on Manny's deal at $20 million per year too.

So Arod put himself in a Manny situation, huh? Lol. :-D

*Disclaimer--Not totally sure about the two extra option years, but seem to remember reading something about it. Team options if memory serves.
Yes doctor, I am sick.
Sick of those who are spineless.
Sick of those who feel self-entitled.
Sick of those who are hypocrites.
Yes doctor, an army is forming.
Yes doctor, there will be a war.

I am 99% sure that A-Rod signed his deal and then Manny signed his 2 days later. Both were signed in December 2000 and began for the 2001 season.

Manny also does have 2 team option years at the end for $20 million per.

Hmmm....I was almost sure that Manny signed first. Oh well, I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong again.

At least I got the extra option years right. ;-)
